This notice explains what happens to your data when you visit thibauhopmans.com or send me a message. I'm Thibau Hopmans, from Zonhoven, Belgium, and I'm responsible for this site. In short: the site sets no cookies, loads nothing from other companies, and only keeps what you send me through the contact form.

What I collect

When you send a message through the contact form: your name, your email address, your company if you fill it in, and your message. The website doesn't store the form; it reaches me as an email.

When you visit the site: anonymous visit statistics, such as which pages are read, which website you came from, your type of browser and your country. I use Umami, which runs on my own server, sets no cookies and doesn't store your IP address or anything else that identifies you.

To stop spam, the server briefly counts messages per IP address. It keeps this count in memory only, for at most 10 minutes.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your own browser. It never leaves your device.

Why

I use your message and contact details only to reply to you and to continue the conversation you start. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering messages that people send me (article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

I never use your details for newsletters or marketing, and I never sell or share them.

The anonymous statistics help me understand which pages are read, so I can improve the site. They contain no personal data.

How long it is kept

Messages stay in my mailbox while we're in touch, and I delete them 12 months after our last contact.

The anonymous statistics contain no personal data, so I keep them for as long as they're useful.

Processors

These companies process data on my behalf:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) hosts the website and the visit statistics, on servers in the EU.
  • Resend delivers contact form messages to my mailbox, using its EU region. Resend is based in the United States. [To confirm before publishing: the safeguard for this, such as the standard contractual clauses in Resend's data processing agreement.]
  • mailbox.org (Germany) hosts my mailbox.

Your rights

You can ask me to see, correct or delete your data, to limit or object to how I use it, or to receive it in a portable format. Email info@thibauhopmans.com and I'll answer within one month.

If you think I handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) at www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
